"All I really want is a better hunting dog...."
That's said jokingly, as almost everyone you'll meet in our group has said
the same thing at some point. The truth of the matter is, if you ask most
anyone at a hunt test just how they got involved, they will probably answer,
"because I wanted a better hunting dog." Better is in the eye of the
beholder, so its intuitive that as you survey many different people, you will
get many different responses as to exactly what makes a better hunting dog.
Our members each have their own unique training styles, but we all share the
same training goals.... to educate our hunting companions into the finest
retriever at the hunting lodge.
"If you don't mind me asking, who trained your dog?"
"As a matter of fact, sir, I trained her myself.... with a little help from
the members of our training group." Get used to this one, as you'll get
this question at least twice a week, once word gets out about the amazing 200
yard retrieve your dog made on that huge neck-banded Canada goose. Go
ahead... answer with pride, "she's the best marking dog in our blind."
